Perla Khattar, a doctoral candidate at the University of Notre Dame Law School and a graduate fellow at the Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab, recently published an article in Tech Policy Press explaining the American Privacy Rights Act (APRA), a bipartisan effort to create the first comprehensive federal legislation governing digital privacy in the U.S. Khattar’s research focuses on technology law with an emphasis on digital privacy, online speech, and technology governance.

The article, titled “The American Privacy Rights Act of 2024 Explained: What Does the Proposed Legislation Say, and What Will it Do?” explains APRA’s proposed scope, highlights its potential impacts on companies and consumers, and outlines hurdles that ARPA will need to clear before being signed into law.
